Review Assignment (due March 23)

Due March 23 -Blog/Podcast/Video Review Assignment (email link or doc by deadline):

Option 1: Submit a review on science fiction, superhero or epic film (from those listed and covered throughout Module 9).

Top Epic Films worthy of review: The American Film Institute defines “epic” as a genre of large-scale films set in a cinematic interpretation of the past.

  4. Spartacus (1960)
  5. Titanic (1997)
  6. All Quiet on the Western Front (1930)
  7. Saving Private Ryan (1998)
  8. Reds (1981)
  9. The Ten Commandments (1956)
  10. Last of the Mohicans (1992)

Option 2: Explore and review an Indie” film or International Film (from those listed/covered in Module 8). If you select a foreign language film, you may check out this list of the 50 Best Foreign Films of All Time or this 100 Critically Acclaimed Foreign Language films

When you review any film you should identify three-five key items that standout (as strengths and/or weaknesses).

You should explore and review key things like: story, acting, character conflicts, universal theme or life lesson. Offer a report card grade or score. No spoilers please.

You should also cover the items presented in these modules in relation to the topic (indie, reviewing foreign language films, etc.)

You should pay special attention into any visual effects, stunts or scenic interactions that make the film “epic” or sci-fi, fantasy or disaster-related.  Sound design and score are also key for many of these types of films.

You should also examine costume design, production design, and location choices.

Submit on your blog (400 -1500 words) or your video/podcasting platforms (four-six minutes).
