To explore why story is important and why it matters, I encourage you to visit (or revisit) any of the following WGA or Oscar-winning/nominated films. Each of these won (or received a nomination) from the WGA the Academy Award for screenplay (some original and some adapted). As you watch the film, explore this question: Based on what you’ve learned so far about “story” – Why is this film worthy of an Oscar win for story? If you feel differently, ask yourself why?
For your first evaluation this semester – you may select one of these films or one from “Hollywood and History.”
The rubric and expectations are located here.
